A center of interest is that part of the picture which attracts the mind. A focal point is that area of a picture that attracts the eye.
balance-symmetrical
Formal balance, also called symmetrical balance, is a concept of aesthetic composition involving equal weight and importance on both sides of a composition.
Balance-asymmetrical
Not identical on both sides of a central line; unsymmetrical; lacking symmetry: Most faces are asymmetric. (of a logical or mathematical relation) holding true of members of a class in one order but not in the opposite order, as in the relation “being an ancestor of.”.
harmony
Brings together a composition with similar units. If your composition was using wavy lines and organic shapes you would stay with those types of lines and not put in just one geometric shape.
contrast
The degree of difference between tones in a television picture, photograph, or other image.
repitition
A thing repeated.
proportion
Adjust or regulate (something) so that it has a particular or suitable relationship to something else.
proximity
Nearness in space, time, or relationship.
rule of thirds
The rule of thirds states than an image is most pleasing when its subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide the image into thirds.
