The little girl in the red coat is an important theme in the film Schindler's List. Oskar Schindler is watching the Nazi’s clear out the “ghetto” and he notices a young girl in a red coat. I think that the significance of the “red coat” is that the colour stands out because it is bright but it is also the colour of blood. Oskar anxiously watches the little girl weave through the crowd of people, while the people around her are being shot but she is missed. The camera focuses on the young girl the whole time while blurring out the other people. At the end of the scene she slips into a building out of sight.
I believe that the little girl with the red coat is an important theme because later in the film you see the little girl being hauled away on a wagon dead. It makes you realize that even though children are the most influential people and they were the definition of good, they were still killed.
